The Blueprint

from Black Leaf CD by Pilot Touhill

lyrics

Life moves fast, moves fast. Life moves fast.
Can you hear me from up in the clouds. I’m still trying to figure it out. There’s no blueprint to what this life’s about. I haven’t bothered you in a while but I need your help now.
I grew up in an old 3 family, my grandparents lived right below me. When Grandma died the whole thing changed, Mom and Dad went separate ways. As we lowered Grandma into the ground, that god damn dirt, that terrible sound. I saw a light shimmer in the distance and saw you smiling all the way from heaven. Your kind eyes looking down, telling me not to cry or frown. That you were just off on your journey, its too bad you had to leave early.
Can you hear me from up in the clouds. I’m still trying to figure it out. There’s no blueprint to what this life’s about. I haven’t bothered you in a while but I need your help now.
Slide down and let me pour some sorrow, its kind of bitter and its hard to swallow. Best friends, we were good to go, we’d put some jacks in the spokes of our bicycles. We used to break them bottles and make the cops come. I miss talking to you one and one and I’ll never have another friend like you again.
Can you hear me from up in the clouds. I’m still trying to figure it out. There’s no blueprint to what this life’s about. I haven’t bothered you in a while but I need your help now. I’ve got this lonely void in my soul. I’ve had some trouble letting you go. And though I’ll treasure the times that we shared. Sometimes I still just miss you so bad.
